Jo Chapman

Celebrant

Jo has a wealth of experience in creating and conducting unique ceremonies. Her journey started back in 2013 as a Ceremony Officer for the Local Authority. She expanded on this in 2018 by completing her training to become a celebrant, with The Fellowship of Professional Celebrants of which she is now a member.

Wherever possible Jo loves to meet the family in person to hear all the wonderful stories about their loved one. This enables her to compose, then conduct a personal service ensuring the occasion is a true reflection of how their loved one wished to be remembered.

In order to capture the essence of the person who has lived, Jo encourages family and friends to participate in the planning of the service by choosing such elements as music, poems, readings as well as prayers and hymns if so desired.

Everybody’s reaction to a loss is unique, there is no right or wrong way to deal with grief. Jo values the importance of acknowledging all the feelings that a passing brings about and her empathetic and warm approach comforts families and individuals during times of bereavement and loss.

Jo feels both privileged and honoured officiating a loved one’s last public moment. She is of the belief it is a time to honour them and to share memories about them whilst providing an opportunity for family and friends to gather and support one another in their grief. Sharing lessens the pain and saying goodbye is important.
